Starting this fall, MGAP will be hosting a List Serve forum specifically for House Corporation Members.
THE overall VISION is to provide a tool for HC Members to get their jobs done more effectively, efficiently and with greater & faster collective learning.
The tactical GOALS of the HC List Serve are three-fold:
- 1. BULK/COORDINATED PURCHASES: Share information regarding projects from HC to HC to take advantage of bulk purchasing opportunities (i.e., if Beta is going to be installing sprinklers this year and Pi Phi is also going to do this, why not get together and try to get a better deal with a vendor). This could work for things big like sprinklers or carpet, but also small things like shoveling the sidewalk or parking lots.
- 2. LEARN: Learn from each others' experiences with vendors, house project plans, etc... so as to do things better next time
- 3. UPDATES: Keep each other updated on new members/contact info. of HCs are as information change
The way it TACTICALLY works is as follows:
- 1. Initially, an e-mail will go out from MGAP announcing the List Serve and asking HC Members to supply updates or inputs, thoughts, etc...
- 2. HC Member responses will end up going to all List Serve Members and anyone can reply. You may reply to the entire List Serve or you may reply just to the individual who has something in which you have an interest. For example, a HC Member may reply like this: "We are working on getting money from Marcy Holmes neighborhood and just received a $2,000 grant to help fix our roof, if anyone else is interested in free money from Marcy Holmes, just contact...."
- 3. Then it is off to the races.... Anyone can post anything or respond in any way with a few caveats:
- i. All material should be HC RELATED
- ii. No soliciting
- iii. Be professionally courteous and respectful in dialogues
- iv. Whatever is posted should be helpful, a request for information, or a sharing of information that may be helpful ie. "Does anyone know a good, reliable snow plowing service?" or "We just found a great place for a new House Director - it's called GreekHouseDirectors.com"
4. You may request that the e-mails you receive from the List Serve are either a) all come individually, b) are collected for the day and provided in a single e-mail.
5. A person can place comments to the List Serve 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How do I JOIN?:
- 1. If you are a HC member currently & in the MGAP List, you are currently being invited to join.
